6 Things You Could Start Doing TODAY to Improve Your Child's Reading

Tip #1
Make sure your child knows all 26 letters and sounds -- especially the vowels and frequently reversed letters!

Make sure that your child has a good BLENDING TECHNIQUE!

Teach your child how to break up and sound out BIG words -- especially if he or she is currently scared of them, skips them, or guesses at them!
Tip #4
Remind your child to always look THROUGH words from left to right rather than AT words so he or she won't get them confused with similar-looking words.

Make sure your child knows all of the TRICKS (letters that work together to make different sounds than they normally do when alone).

Help your child increase his or her background knowledge and vocabulary so that he or she understands more of what is read.
